Meet the Founders

Gooroo Music is a Bay Area–based music house built on collaboration, artistry, and heart. Co-founded by Sami Freeman and Jeff Kolhede in 2020, Gooroo leads an award-winning team of composers, sound designers, and mix engineers who create music and audio that feel alive—beautiful, authentic, and deeply human. From commercials and podcasts to film, the team approaches every project with care and curiosity, shaping sound that tells stories and resonates long after the final note.

Sami Freeman is a singer, pianist, and composer whose music lives at the intersection of feeling and motion—dreamlike, emotional, and full of texture. Whether scoring for film or creating her own songs, her work blends the organic and the electronic, the intimate and the cinematic.

As co-founder of Gooroo Music, Sami leads outreach, client communication, and project management—helping artists, filmmakers, and brands bring their sonic vision to life. Her approach centers on connection, clarity, and crafting work that moves both creatively and emotionally.

Jeff Kolhede is a producer, audio engineer, and artist whose work spans folk, rock, indie, soul, and jazz. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has contributed to multiple Grammy-nominated records and composes music for film and advertisements, including the trailer for the Academy Award-winning film Moonlight.

As co-founder of Gooroo Music, Jeff directs a team of award-winning composers, mix engineers, and sound designers—overseeing creative direction, sound design, and final delivery for projects that balance artistry with precision. His approach blends musical depth, emotional resonance, and technical mastery—helping Gooroo Music craft sound that connects, inspires, and endures.
